Renovation and remodelling of a 1928 apartment in Chicago

In this project, one apartment out of a renovation of an entire 1928 apartment block shows an elegant renovation of a spacious and charming 4,500 square foot vintage apartment This unit occupies one of only three intact residences remaining within a grand apartment house overlooking Belmont Harbor in Chicago. This remarkable residence is one of only three perfectly preserved apartments within the magnificent and historic 1928 apartment building that offers breathtaking views overlooking the serene and picturesque Belmont Harbor in the vibrant and bustling city of Chicago.

Following decades of incremental alterations, Scott Himmel & Co. was commissioned to comprehensively replan the building, reducing the apartment count from 75 to 44. Through an extensive and comprehensive replan that thoughtfully reduced the number of apartments from an overloaded 75 to a more refined 44, this ambitious project beautifully exemplifies an unwavering commitment to thoughtful and innovative design, as well as deep respect for and dedication to historic preservation.
