5000 sq. ft. vintage duplex condominium
Designed by master architect Benjamin Marshall, this iconic East Lake Shore Drive building rises in two distinct phases. Set within the coveted second phase, a rare 5,000 square foot vintage condominium spans two private levels—an exceptional expression of scale, discretion, and refined lakefront living.
The raw space remained faithful to the original design, refined only where essential for modern living. Front parlors were unified into a single grand living room, and two en suite primary baths were distilled into one expansive master bath, enhancing scale, flow, and everyday ease.
The owners sought an interior that felt entirely original, despite being newly realized within the existing structural walls. A restrained palette of traditional detailing, finished in a raw umber overglaze, imparts an immediate sense of age, permanence, and understated refinement.
Our firm curated an entirely new suite of furnishings, Continental in sensibility and quietly sophisticated in execution. Contemporary pieces were upholstered in neutral mohair, while select antiques were finished in rich jewel tones, creating a layered interior of restraint, depth, and enduring elegance. The result is a residence that feels effortlessly collected—designed for gracious entertaining and refined everyday living alike.
